Detroit, MI. - On Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 5eGallery located at 4605 Cass Avenue inside the Cass Corridor Commons from 12pm-2am The Foundation of 5e Gallery will be hosting our 5th Anniversary of Celebrating Women in Hip Hop and in addition to performances, and a graffiti live art showcase. We are still accepting vendors and sponsors as well.
we’re hosting Detroit’s 1st B-Girl Battle! “Diamonds in the Rough” with a $500 Cash Prize.  B-Girling will be Representin’ We are extremely excited to meet the best B-Girls meeting up in Detroit!  We have official B-Girl + AllStyles Battles going down. 1 on 1 Head to Head!

_This night of the The foundation of 5eGallery 5th Anniversary feature performances include Legendary Emcee Miz Korona, DSSense, Mahogany Jones, Insite the Riot, NiqLoveRhodes, Abstract Jazz, Keys, & Jaci Caprice. DJ Lynda Carter’s spinning a special showcase. Internationally renowned poet Tawana Honeycomb Petty will host our celebration. Live Painting & graffiti showcase by Nicole Carter, Riku, Nemiki, Help, & Mary Pepper. All-Styles Battle will be judged by superstar Dancer Mai Le aka MadaM Wazel, SOUL, + PRINGLEZ. B-GIRL Battle will be judged by LADY CHAMP, JUSS CUZ, + CODA! CYPHER QUEEN BATTLE JUDGED BY JAY BAY! We will debut our documentary film “The Foundation of 5eGallery Celebrating Women in Hip Hop.” We will also be awarding Detroit’s Pioneer Women in Hip Hop with an official ceremony. Jessica Care Moore is one of the awardees.

5eGallery and the HERU Organization partnered in 2011 to create “the BUSinESS Program”(™) with youth of Detroit, to serve as our combined youth entrepreneurship, digital media arts and literacy, and social justice initiative. Our mission is to nurture and support the next generation of artists through mentoring and training to employ Principles that inform their art and media skills, digital media literacy, entrepreneurship, and social justice development. Using Hip Hop, we cultivate positive self-identity and provide a safe space allowing youth to explore their creative expression using media as a tool to engage their peers to take leadership in confronting the various issues they face navigating systemic oppression and improving their communities in Detroit. 5e Gallery and the HERU draw upon our diverse networks of highly skilled local artists to teach media-making skills including– audio recording and record production, online and print self-publishing, digital distribution, social media, video production and streaming, graffiti mural art, poetry, screen-printing, b-boying, photography and DJing. 5egallery.org/dfy-5e-heru
